Seventy years of red shirts
Caerau Ely AFC started in 1955 with a set of donated red jerseys and a place in the junior division of the Cardiff Combination League. Seven decades on, the red shirts are still going, and the trophy count from those combination years alone would fill a decent sized cabinet. Ten league championships and, by the club's own count, over eighty league titles and cups across its teams through the years.
The nickname came later. In the mid 2000s the club leaned hard into youth, at times fielding a starting eleven without a single player over twenty one. The Young Guns stuck, and so did the philosophy. The club still runs a development side and a pathway for young players from Cardiff and the Vale.
Home is Cwrt-yr-Ala in Caerau, tucked at the end of a housing estate in west Cardiff, and the ground has seen real investment in recent years to keep pace with the club's climb. The badge carries the club motto, O Nerth i Nerth. From strength to strength. It fits.
Chasing the Cymru Premier
Caerau Ely play in the Cymru South, the second tier of Welsh football, and they are not shy about the ambition. The club wants to bring top flight Welsh football to the capital, and last season they came close to the promotion places, finishing fifth after a campaign that had them in the hunt for much of the year.
Running a club at that level costs serious money for a community outfit. Travel across South Wales, facility standards, kit and coaching all add up, which is exactly where sponsorship makes the difference. We're proud to have Coast behind a club that represents one of Cardiff's proudest and most tight knit communities.
